Friends of Dunorlan Park was formed in 1997, celebrating its Silver Jubilee this year. The groups has over 400 members, and the group continues to contribute financially to projects within Dunorlan Park. Last year, over £8000 was donated to help fund work within the park.
Friends of Dunorlan Park work closely with TWBC and assist them with a volunteer group of approximately 15 people. This group meets weekly (every Monday) to carry out maintenance and remediation projects. The groups also work alongside the Kent High Weald Partnership for more challenging projects.
The Friends organise a number of social and environmental events each year where experts discuss the trees, moths, bats and fungi found in the park (as well as hosting a Christmas drinks and nibbles party!).
Additionally, the group work closely with a number of educational organisations such as the nearby Barnardo’s Meadows School where their pupils are involved in gardening and winter feeding of the wildfowl as well as enjoying activities such as pond dipping.
Membership of the Friends costs just £7 per year for an individual or £12 for a couple or a family.
