Great Big Green Week:

The first Great Big Green Week took place between 18-26 September 2021 and soon became the largest event for climate and nature ever seen in the UK. The Great Big Green Week encouraged community-led events and local green weeks (including activities, festivals, talks and more) to inspire climate action across every generation.

When is Great Big Green Week 2022?

The Great Big Green Week 2022 will take place during 24 September – 2 October 2022

The Great Big Green Week Community Fund:

If you would like to organise your own event, activity (etc.) during Great Big Green Week, funding is available.

The Great Big Green Week Community Fund supports community groups, clubs, charities, parish councils etc. to organise local events, activities and festivals during the Great Big Green Week 2022.

The activity/event that you’re organising must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Empower local groups to create new connections locally that support new people and organisations to take climate action locally. E.g. local businesses, sports clubs, cultural organisations and faith groups

  • Led by or in partnership with groups who are underrepresented within the climate movement. E.g. ethnic minority, disability or economically deprived.

  • In locations with no existing green week or related activity. Or, where the event takes existing or previously funded activity to a new level.

  • Engage local politicians and/or councillors in events happening in their constituency.

  • Support engagement across generations and encourage intergenerational dialogue

There are three types of grants available:

  • Small grant: £200-£500
  • Medium grant: £500-£5000
