Waste and Resources

Our ambitions and progress:
- We have increased kerbside recycling rates in the borough to 65% by 2035 and 85% by 2050, from a 2019 baseline.
In 2023/24 52.2% of household waste in the borough was sent to recycling, reuse or composting.
- We have reduced per capita food waste 50% by 2030, from a 2021 baseline.
We have observed a 15.13% reduction in per capita food waste from 2022/23 to 2023/24.
- TWBC waste collection vehicles will be fossil fuel free by 2031.
We are currently exploring HVO to reduce emissions from our waste collection vehicles.
