UKSPF
The UK Government has awarded Tunbridge Wells Borough Council funding through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) for the 2025-26 financial year.
The funding is supporting climate action by encouraging projects that advance green technology, improve energy efficiency, and contribute to local sustainability goals, aligning economic growth with environmental responsibility.
- Community Climate Micro Grant Scheme
Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is pleased to launch the first round of our Community Climate Micro Grant Scheme. The Community Climate Micro Grant Scheme has received £10,000 from the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
The purpose of the Community Climate Micro Grants is to support local community groups, schools, organisations and non-profits to deliver small scale climate action projects, whilst positively engaging with residents around local climate action.
Examples of such projects could include: tree planting, micro forest planting, wildflower meadow creation, rain garden creation, organising litter picks/purchasing better equipment, expand or start a repair cafe, hold a sewing club, open a library of things, open a community garden, open a community fridge, purchase a community composter, organise a local fair, organise local training (carbon literacy).
All projects must at a minimum engage communities on the environment and achieve at least one of following:
- Encourages sustainable behaviour
- Improve local understanding of climate change and sustainability
- Reduces pollution
- Reduces emissions (either individually or borough wide)
- Improves air quality
- Improves biodiversity
- Improves local climate adaptation
The idea is that this grant would help to spark and support locally-led climate action, providing small scale funding to help local sustainable initiatives get off the ground or grow.
The maximum grant value per application is £1,000.
The deadline for applications is the 4th July 2025.

2. Business Decarbonisation Grant Scheme
Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is pleased to launch the second round of our Business Decarbonisation Grant Scheme. The Business Decarbonisation Grant Scheme has received £25,000 from the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
This purpose of the Business Decarbonisation Grant Scheme is to provide local businesses with dedicated funding to support them on their decarbonisation journey.
Businesses are eligible to up to £2,499 of grant funding, to be spent only on decarbonisation interventions such as:
- LED installation
- Solar PV installation
- Insulation installation
- Replacement of gas heating and cooking appliances
- Bespoke energy efficiency improvement solutions
- Double glazing
- Water saving measures
- Emissions reporting services
- Decarbonisation feasibility studies
- Decarbonisation plan development
- EV charge point installation
- EV purchase (only for business purposes e.g. taxi or staff pool vehicle)
- Replacement of fossil fuel powered tools.
Successful applicants would have until January 2026 to deliver their project.
The deadline for application is the 27th June 2025.
